Trunk or treat!

We attended our church's first trunk or treat. It was a lot of fun. Cadence was a blue butterfly and Steve and I were Entomologists. She loved running around in her outfit and absolutely couldn't get enough of the trunk or treat fun. I made homemade marshmallows dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with cookies and cream bits...yum!

Recipe:
Ingredients
3 packages unflavored gelatin
1 cup ice cold water, divided
12 ounces granulated sugar, approximately 1 1/2 cups
1 cup light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch

Directions
Place the gelatin into the bowl of a stand mixer along with 1/2 cup of the water. Have the whisk attachment standing by.

In a small saucepan combine the remaining 1/2 cup water, granulated sugar, corn syrup and salt. Place over medium high heat, cover and allow to cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Uncover, clip a candy thermometer onto the side of the pan and continue to cook until the mixture reaches 240 degrees F, approximately 7 to 8 minutes. Once the mixture reaches this temperature, immediately remove from the heat.

Turn the mixer on low speed and, while running, slowly pour the sugar syrup down the side of the bowl into the gelatin mixture. Once you have added all of the syrup, increase the speed to high. Continue to whip until the mixture becomes very thick and is lukewarm, approximately 12 to 15 minutes. Add the vanilla during the last minute of whipping. While the mixture is whipping prepare the pans as follows.

For regular marshmallows:
Combine the confectioners' sugar and cornstarch in a small bowl. With a sieve, generously dust an 9 by 13-inch baking dish with the confectioners' sugar and cornstarch mixture. Return the remaining mixture to the bowl for later use.

When ready, pour the mixture into the prepared pan, lightly spray a spatula with non stick spray for spreading evenly into the pan. Dust the top with enough of the remaining sugar and cornstarch mixture to lightly cover. Reserve the rest for later. Allow the marshmallows to sit uncovered for at least 4 hours and up to overnight.

Turn the marshmallows out onto a cutting board and cut into 1-inch squares using a pizza wheel dusted with the confectioners' sugar mixture. Once cut, lightly dust all sides of each marshmallow with the remaining mixture, using additional if necessary.

Melt a good dark chocolate in a glass bowl by microwaving on high for 30 seconds, stirring, then repeating until chocolate is smooth and shiny. Put Marshmallows on lollipop sticks and dip in the chocolate. twirl upside down in the bowl for a few seconds to get rid of the extra chocolate, then sprinkle with cookies and cream bits or sprinkles and lay on a wax paper lined sheet tray. Put int he fridge for 10 minutes or until the chocolate is hardened.

So lately I have been really into crafts. I got these great ideas from a site called pinterest.com. The first one I did was a magnetic makeup board. Bought a $5 frame from a thrift store, painted it, covered a metal sheet with fabric, added some jewels, glued magnets on the back my makeup, and bought plastic bins from the dollar store. The second one I did was a Jewelry frame using welded hardwired mesh and an old frame I wasn't using anymore.

Pumpkin Patch

It's that time of year again! We went back to the pumpkin patch this year and had tons of fun. We went with our good friend's Ken and Cindy. We went on the Haystack pyramid, through the hay maze, ran through the pumpkin patch, and Cadence absolutely loved getting her picture taken through the picture boards with holes in them.She didn't want a big pumpkin (she said they were yucky) but she absolutely loved the small ones. She also wanted the "scary pumpkins" or the gourds that had knobs on them too.

Florida.... Finally!

Sorry everyone! I know it has taken me months to post pictures of our trip to Florida in June. The past few months have just flown by. Cadence loved spending time with her family in Florida. We were super busy, we had a bridal shower, a wedding, went to Sea World, went to Pensacola,and spent lots of time with family. Although Cadence and Ian didn't see eye to eye on everything, she just can't stop talking about him. Everyday, still, it's "Ian and Clara's house mommy?" She also wants to talk to her grandparents...everyday and every time she sees some one with red hair she calls them Ana. We can't wait to go back in December to see everyone!

Cadence had a photo shoot today! It was a blast, my awesome and talented friend Tiffany, at MT Photography, did an awesome job! Cadence had so much fun posing and playing with all the props that she brought. They turned out absolutely stunning!

Vaseline Hair!

So I wake to and get Cadence, as soon as I walk in I notice a COMPLETELY EMPTY BOTTLE OF VASELINE lying on the floor, and then I look at Cadence. AHHHHHHH! In her hair on her clothes and on the bed. Needless to say I spend the next hour and a half trying everything under the sun to get it out. We tried corn starch, baking soda, dish washing soap,and even after all of that her hair still was standing on end. Finally, my wonderful sister said that she saw a lot of people online tried baby oil. I threw her hair into pigtails and ran to the store. Her hair was a little greasy afterward but at the Vaseline was out.

Catching up

I know, I know..... I haven't posting like i should so here are a few things that we have been up to. We bought Band Hero and Cadence LOVES and I mean LOVES the drums. She is pretty good too, she even plays the bass drum! She loves to talk on the phone and I was FINALLY able to put her hair in pig tails (although I do have to put them back in quite often, but I am determined!). She also loves to cook with Mommy. She insisted on wearing all of my kitchen gear.

Hi Can't believe our baby is two years old! We decided to have dump cake with ice cream this year. I got a little burnt out on making the cake last year so we took the easy route. She got a baby doll and stroller for her birthday. She carries that baby around everywhere, it is sooooo cute!

Sorry this took so long to post, We celebrated thanksgiving and Christmas in Florida (of which I totally forgot to get pictures :o( ) These are pictures of the little Christmas we celebrated when we got back to California. She loved her Princess shoes , tiara, and wand. Loved them to pieces I should say because by the end of week week they were completely destroyed, oh well, she enjoyed them while they lasted.

So I didn't get many but these are some pictures that I was able to get on our trip to Florida. It was great seeing everyone and spending a whole month there. She loved to have her grandpa read to her, she got her first haircut (Thanks Tim!, and she got to see her cousins! We also had an engagement party for my brother Paul and his fiance Niky while we were there.

We had tons of fun this year. We carved our pumpkin which Cadence loved, she actually tried to eat the pumpkin scraps, YUCK! Then we went to a party Saturday morning with games and a dry ice punch as well as a party later that night with a bouncy house (she did not want to get out) and trick or treating!

So we decided to try the pumpkin patch again this year. She was terrified of them last year we weren't sure what was going to happen. She loved it! she loved to pick up the rocks on the ground as much as she loved the pumpkins. She probably spent an hour climbing up and down the straw pyramid. When we got home she kept scratching her behind so we looked in her diaper and you can see the results.

My poor baby is let's say "Hair Challenged" So i would love nothing better than for her to wear pretty hair bands, so that I don't get asked. "Is it a boy or a girl?" But she refused to wear them. Lately though she actually let's it stay on for a minute or so, the other day she wore it all the way to the car. I was so proud!

Trip to Florida

Hi All! Sorry this took SOOOO long to update. I am just now starting to get into the swing of things. We had a great trip, although I had to work a lot more than I planned so I didn't have much time to socialize but I had a great time staying with my sister and visiting with my family. Cadence loved spending time with her cousins, and I am so grateful to Lianne for putting up with us. Cadence is a little bit of a tornado. She also is a little food monster. A lot of the times she would steal food off of Ian's food tray. One morning she was coming into the eating area and Clara yelled," Watch out Ian here comes Cadence!" Ian promptly put as much of his food into his hands and held them high in the air. Lianne and I couldn't stop laughing! But they all got along really well. I am so glad I was able to see everyone and hopefully I can make it back soon.

I tried to get take Cadence's Christmas pictures myself. Boy was that a lot harder than I thought. I ended up taking over 300 pictures! It was really hard mostly because all Cadence wanted to do was crawl around and explore! Oh well, I think I ended up with some pretty decent shots. Merry Christmas!

Her Halloween custome

Cadence loved her halloween custome so much she plays with it like it is her favorite toy. Steve was playing around with her the other day and decided to put it on his head. She loved to kiss him through the arm holes. She just couldn't stop giggling! It is now a good trick to use when she is fussy.

USS Hornet Museum

We decided to go to the USS hornet Museum with some of Steve's coworkers in Oakland pm Veteran's Day this year since they had the day off. It was really neat to see the retired aircraft carrier. Cadence loved the accoustics and was VERY loud! When we went up to the flight deck, she couldn't help but crawl around, although the non skip coating almost wore a hole through her jeans. It was a fun day.

Trick or Treating at the Fremont Hub

Our shopping Center had a big to do on Halloween. It was perfect because it was during the day and we got to walk around with a lot of other people and do our first trick or trating with Cadence. She was quite sure what to do at first, she just stared at the candy baskets, but she got used to ti pretty fast. She doesn't eat the candy (although she tried to put it in her mouth, wrapper and all) but it was a fun experience. She was a "love monster," I was impressed that she didn't try to rip the head off when I put it on her. She left it on the entire time!

We all went to the local elementary school for their Halloween Festival. It was fun to see a lot of people from church there as well as all the kids dressed in costumes. Cadence didn't wear her costume as she is was going to be wearing it the next day at the Fremont hub' Halloween Trick or treating.

Well we finally made it to California! What a trip! My mom drove this time and we stopped at some fun places along the way. Our favorite was the Big Texan, home of the free 72oz steak. Of you have to finish it plus 2 sides in an hour and believe me that is quite a feat. Mom and I enjoyed a Prime Rib that was really good. we also saw some beautiful sights along the way.

We started feeding her solid foods...well solidish! We fed her rice cereal and she loved it. Still getting trying to keep all of it in her mouth but she is progressing well. She does better some days then others but overall she is doing great!!!

First Photo Shoot

Boy was this an adventure! Cadence just started to sit up on her with no support this morning and seemed to be doing ok. So when we went to the photo shoot we thought it would be ok and it did for the first few minutes. Then....... she fell over and scared herself. AND we had just gotten her out of her clothes for the "naked" shots. Steve tried to calm her down and then I tried to calm her down and we were also trying to fit getting some pictures in between bouts of crying. I was so stressed out. She does cry like that for that long. Then after I nursed her to calm her down we got to back down to nothing and......she peed on me.... twice!! All over my skirt and my shirt. AWESOME........ Anyways we were able to do some bathing suit shots and then she was absolutely done! The photographer was so patient with her. I thought that were not going to have any good shots but to my surprise we got alot of really nice shots. Granted not all of the poses I wanted because she was so upset but alot. The one with flower is my favorite. I think I may go back when she is older and sitting up more. But overall we got some really nice pictures.

Father's Day!

We had a great Father's Day and we were so glad that we could be with Steve for it. We made him a big breakfast/brunch and then he went over to play video games with our neighbor Andy. Our church building is being renovated and we couldn't figure out were the new meeting place was we so missed church that day :0( For dinner I fixed Steve Roast Chicken, Risotto, and lemon meringue pie(ok, so I picked up the pie at the store but I made everything else). We invited Andy to to join us for dinner because his wife and child were still and California and he couldn't be with him for his first Father's Day. Overall a really good day.

Reunited!

Cadence was so happy to be with her daddy again!They love to play together and Cadence especailly loves giving daddy kisses. Of course she grabs onto to whatever she can gets her hands on (hair, ears, noses, skin) and pulls hard to get it to her mouth so her kisses are bitter sweet, not to mention slobbery. But we can't get enough of them. She is such a sweet baby that we would let her "kiss" us all day if we could.

The trip to Oklahoma

We broke the 1400 mile trip into a couple of segments. First stopped over at Aunt Carron and Uncle Bill's on Friday night and Saturday morning. She loved her Aunt Carron and Uncle Bill! Her and Aunt Carron just had a grand old time playing and reading books and walking outside, it was a great visit!

Next we stopped over in Milton to stay with Grandmommi and Grandpoppi Enfinger for a few days. She had a little but of a rough time in the car but we made it safe and sound. She is such a happy baby, she was smiling at everyone and making happy noises and loved to be with her great grandparents.

We left on Tuesday morning and my wonderful Mother-in-law came up with the greatest plan ever for Cadence and handling the trip. We stopped at a restaurant and she asked them if we could have a back room were I could nurse. I then topped her off with a bottle and then Teri thought it might be good time to have her do tummy time. She played happily while we ate and then took our time and by the time she left she was a happy baby. She stayed that way for almost 3 hours! We needed to stop 2 times doing that until we got to Shreveport, which was the half way stop. We left the next morning and did the same routine and were able to make it to Oklahoma by 6pm. We were so excited to see Steve! Cadence just smiled at her daddy when she saw him. I am sad that I am away from my family and friends, but so happy to be with Steve again. I am also so grateful to Teri, I could not have made the trip without her, and it truly was quite a pleasant trip. I never thought I would say that about traveling such a far distance with a 5 month old but it truly was thanks to her.

Leaving Florida

Cadence, grandmommi Teri and I left to go to Oklahoma. We all got together at the Nursery for goodbyes. Paul surprised me with my favorite food sushi and Lianne brought over the kids. Talk about emotional!Everybody was teary eyed. It finally hit me as I was driving away. I saw my sister Ana start to cry and I just lost it. But it was good for Cadence and I to see everybody before we left!

Finding her Feet

She found her feet today! I was getting ready for a doctor's appointment this morning and turned around and she had her feet stuffed in her mouth. She played with them for a good 30 minutes this morning. Yeah a new toy! She gets bored so easily at least this will keep her entertained and it is SOOOOOO darn cute!

Man has she started to chew. She chews on EVERYTHING!!!!! Fingers are her particular favorite. But I can get her to chew on toys as well. I love this photo because the blue teething ring brings out the blue in her eyes. She is also getting really good control over her hands. A little too much sometimes, I am always cutting her nails but she somehow manages to scrap her little face and ears to shreds. Poor little girl!

When people said that I would be tired, they weren't kidding! Babies never sleep!! It has a busy first few weeks. We had my mom stay with us the first week or so and it has been such a help. Steve and I are exhausted, but so happy to have such a little angel in our lives. She looks a lot like her dad!

She's finally here! She decided to come a day early, I started having contractions in the afternoon on the 4th and by 5:30am on the 5th my contractions were 5 minutes apart. It was a long day and a long delivery but so worth it. I had a BUNCH of support from my wonderful family. I had a whole cheering section in my delivery room. It sure helped during my hour and half of pushing! She wasborn on January 5th at 7:44pm and was 7 lbs 5 ounces and 21 Inches long. She is SO beautiful! It was all worth it!

It's set!! They have scheduled me for delivery on January 6th at 4pm!! That is unless she decides to come earlier! (I hope, I hope, I hope!)

These are kinda funny! She has her hand in front of her face in the top two.She would not move it, then to add to it, she is sticking her tongue out at us in the top one.I swear I could her say "nany nany boo boo!" My sister may be right, she could be a red head ;) The bottom one is the regular ultrasound profile shot before he switched it to 3D.

I'm Dilated!!!

I went in for my NST and regular appointment today and the nurse commented the I looked as though I dropped. She then said that they were going to check me for dilation and guess what.....I'm am 2 cms dilated!!!! Yeah!!!!! Not having contractions yet, but hopefully we will be able to meet Cadence Leigh Wedlund soon!!!

Sorry Guys!!! I guess I am not the greatest at updating my blog.....
Anyways, here are the lastest photos of our little girl. I am always blown away by the amount of detail you can get on these 3d photos. She made me laugh because the first one looks as though she is chewing on her umbilical cord!!! She is resting on my pelvic bone for these so the doc had to work really hard to get the photos, but I think it was worth it.

Just had my next ultrasound and everything still points to it being a girl!!!!! She is 1 lb 13oz!!!!! She had her hands over her face the entire time but we still got a few good shots. We were really trying to get her to move her hands so that we could get a good profile but I guess we wasn't willing to cooperate. (I don't know if that a sign of things to come or not). Check out our new video, in this you can see her mouth move as she is yawning.

We went for our utlrasound today and although she was being uncooperative, we got two shots and both of them looked like it was a girl. It was unreal to say the least to see our baby move and to see her heart, feet, hands, head, etc. She was curled up in a ball and kept kicking me, I ate bread and pickles before my appointment so that she was awake (Steve laughs at me when I do that). She always moves when I eat any type of Carb especially PASTA!!! Check out the Video of her punching me below.

We all went to the beach lately. It was great to see everyone together. I got to meet my nephew Carson and spend a lot of time with my other new nephew Ian(I have to get in alot of practice before January!). I don't think we all have been together in a VERY long time.

I know, I know!!! Most of you are saying FINALLY. But we are so happy and excited to get started on this exiciting path. I am in my 2nd Trimester, and I have to admit that it has been A LOT rougher than I expected. I have been so sick, but slowly (very slowly I might add) improving. We are expecting a lot of changes in the near further, a new baby and Steve is trying for a new job as a Air Traffic Controller. He got a 98 on his test (YEAH! It puts him in the top "Well-Qualified" rank)and are currently waiting to hear when his interview is.
My Ultrasound is on August 27th so we should know the sex of the baby VERY soon.....
